Eggcellent Easter!

We had a fun Easter here at the Quinn house. Both Dan and Pudge had eggs left for them from the easter bunny. Lucky ducks! I wasn't so fortunate.

Here's some video of the egg hunt:

Craft Fair Pictures!

My craft fair wasn't wildly successful, but I did sell one banner and I got an inquiry for a diaper cake this morning. Hopefully it will turn into an order!

Dan came to the event to bring me lunch and moral support. He also took some pictures of me and my booth.

What a Week!

I'll start with what happened today - three super exciting things!

1. I got a beautiful flower arrangement from Mom and Dad, perfect for spring (I'll post pics soon)
2. I sold something on my Etsy site (smalltownsweetthings.etsy.com) AND I didn't sell it to my mom!
3. I had an inquiry for a custom order on my Etsy site. (YAY!)

Other things going on this week:
1. Had a nerve block yesterday (Tuesday) and am hopeful that this takes. Still feeling tender today.
2. Getting Botox tomorrow (no, not to get rid of wrinkles) in my back, to relax the muscles. Should be feeling good by Saturday!
3. Mom is having knee replacement surgery Friday (April Fool's Day) so keep her in your prayers.

Junior Miss 2012

We're back home after spending the weekend in the North Bay with Dan's family. He spent the time with his family while I judged the Sonoma County Junior Miss Program Saturday. I am always impressed by the amazing people who give their time and love every year to this incredible scholarship program for high school juniors.

The event was held at the Spreckels Performing Arts Center in Rohnert Park, the same place the California state competition has been held for years before being moved to Bakersfield in 2010. For me, it was very cool to be back in the same place I competed in 2000, with a lot of familiar volunteers still involved.

I really feel it is a privilege to still be a part of this wonderful program. I'm also judging the Humboldt County Junior Miss Program in two weeks. What a wonderful way to give back to a program that has meant to much to me!

My Valentine

Happy Valentine's Day!

I made a special dinner for my sweetie tonight - one way to show him I love him.

That's right, it's a heart calzone. Yummy and romantic! :-)

And for dessert...

For my Valentine. Funfetti. Something only he (and five year olds) like.

Sending lots of love!

Ready for Spring - or at least a little color!

Today, before my root canal (yuck!), I was at JoAnn's and was so drawn to all the beautiful spring and Eastery things. It inspired me to make a floral arrangement. This is only my second ever, and my first to involve more than one kind of (fake) flower. I can't keep the real ones alive, but love the color flowers bring into the house. And with company coming this weekend, it seemed like the perfect time for a change.

I also have pics of the bag I completed on Monday. This follows the same basic pattern of my last sewing project, but it is MUCH bigger. I can't wait to take it to farmers market this summer!

It's been a busy week, but very productive. It feels good!

We're in Business - Check out my Etsy shop!

Dan has been working with me on spreadsheets and data planning and all sorts of technical sounding things  in preparation for getting my etsy site, SmallTownSweetThings.etsy.com, up and running.

I am starting out very, very small. Please pass this website on to everyone you know, have ever known, or may ever know. It would be so amazing for me to make a profit at this.

Here's what I'll be offering:

Custom banners - Welcome Baby, Congratulations, Bridal Shower, Happy Birthday, personalized for your theme/color scheme.

Custom closet dividers - Newborn, 0-3, 3-6, 6-9, 9-12, blank - OR - 12, 18, 2T, 3T, 4T, blank. Send me a picture/link of the baby bedding and dividers will coordinate.

Custom clothes pins - So much cuter on those teeny hangers. Specify color/theme and these will coordinate as well.

Again, check out my website: SmallTownSweetThings.etsy.com

Accessorize, Baby!

I'm looking forward to another baby shower this afternoon honoring Ava's mama-to-be, Mandy. I have been working on several projects for the two of them, including this piece to hold baby's accessories. Because, let me tell you, this is going to be one VERY well accessorized little girl!

Complete with personalized clothespins.

All packaged up and ready to be opened by mama!

I'll have more pictures to add tonight. Also, I finished some projects for Charlie I'll post pictures of soon.

Sew...A New Project

That's right, after more than two years, I finally got my sewing machine figured out. I spent yesterday morning at JoAnne fabrics getting a tutorial on my machine and left with a renewed excitement about all the possible projects in my future.

In fact, I was so excited, I went home and finished a project I started over a year ago. Next time, I will certainly do things differently, but that's what first projects are for, right? This was just pieces of fabric when I started.

Also yesterday, Pudge had her dental cleaning. Poor doggie, she still hasn't recovered fully from he anesthetic. We have to make her food soggy for her tender gums, and she makes these very pathetic sounds every time I pick her up or pet her.
