Accessorize, Baby!

I'm looking forward to another baby shower this afternoon honoring Ava's mama-to-be, Mandy. I have been working on several projects for the two of them, including this piece to hold baby's accessories. Because, let me tell you, this is going to be one VERY well accessorized little girl!

Complete with personalized clothespins.

All packaged up and ready to be opened by mama!

I'll have more pictures to add tonight. Also, I finished some projects for Charlie I'll post pictures of soon.

Sew...A New Project

That's right, after more than two years, I finally got my sewing machine figured out. I spent yesterday morning at JoAnne fabrics getting a tutorial on my machine and left with a renewed excitement about all the possible projects in my future.

In fact, I was so excited, I went home and finished a project I started over a year ago. Next time, I will certainly do things differently, but that's what first projects are for, right? This was just pieces of fabric when I started.

Also yesterday, Pudge had her dental cleaning. Poor doggie, she still hasn't recovered fully from he anesthetic. We have to make her food soggy for her tender gums, and she makes these very pathetic sounds every time I pick her up or pet her.

Babies, Babies Everywhere! (Except Here)

Two of my most favorite people in the whole world are expecting.

Kelly is due this month, on the 19th. She and her husband, Craig, are planning to name their son Charlie. I got to visit them in Texas in January for the baby shower and help put the nursery together. I'll post pictures soon.

Mandy is due in May and she and Scott are naming their daughter Ava. I have been busy with projects for Mandy's shower and her sweet little girl. I've posted some pictures below, with more to follow. I just haven't delivered some of the projects to the mama yet, so no posting those until I do!

Welcome Ava sign. Custom orders available.

Back In the Swing of Things

It has been a long and interesting hiatus from my blog. Many of you know that following a 2007 car accident, I have dealt with both chronic pain and depression. In the last year, I have been treating both differently, focusing on holistic and non-narcotic means of treatment. I kicked off this new approach with an in-patient detox off all my pain medications in May and have continued to grow stronger in spirit, making my physical pain easier to tolerate.

I feel that in many ways, this is a time of re-birth for me. I am rediscovering myself, rediscovering my interests and the things I find pleasure in. While I still rely on some medical treatments, it is the support of friends, family and the people I have met who have gone through similar circumstances that have allowed me to make it through to this very hopeful and promising stage of my life.

This is a big thank you to all of you who were patient, loving and kind when I needed it most. You mean the world to me.
