Fort Bragg

Last weekend, we got to go on a "camping"trip with my family. My Dad's employer has some property and houses on the Mendocino coast near Fort Bragg. We spent the weekend there with my parents, Mandi and Tommy, and Pudge.

Here's a recent family photo:

We spent some time at the private beach:

New in 2009

Wow! I can't believe September is almost upon us!

It's been a busy year for us, and an eventful one. We've had a lot of changes in our lives, large and small.

The largest and most obvious are that I am no longer working and that Dan has a new job. I have been on short term disability since the first of the year and am taking this time to focus on both my mental and physical well being. I spent the first part of the year learning how to mentally adjust to dealing with chronic pain and my emotions about it. This is still something I work on every day, but it is getting easier and I am proud of the progress I have made. I'm still researching my options for my physical health and while I have not yet found anything particularly promising, I am hoping to be seen by both the pain clinic and spine center at UCSF in the next few weeks.

Dan started working for PG&E in their materials management department in May after being let go from CytoSport. The transition was scary, but ultimately things ended well for him - he received a promotion and enjoys the new challenges his job no offers, but we both miss the short commute he had before - he now BARTs into SF everyday. He's now settled into his now job and is beginning to head several new projects. I am very proud of him and how much he has accomplished not only during his short time at PG&E, but how much he has grown in his field in the past three years.

One other big change. We were recently blessed with a new addtion to our family - an adorable one-year-old Shih Tzu named Pudge. She has been a part of our family for about 4 weeks, and we've all settled in comfortably together. You are all probably going to kill me for posting without a picture, but I promise there will be a lot soon.

New Bed!

We received our new bed today! For those of you how don't know, we just upgraded from a full to a cal king. It is awesome! I should be sleeping in it now :-) We've been talking about buying a bed since we got married, so it's nice to feel like we accomplished something on our to-do list. It was actually a pretty big undertaking - when we bought the bed, we needed new sheets, pillows, bed skirt, etc. You know how it goes. We're feeling pretty settled into the new arrangement tonight.

As a result of the new bed, we now have an official guest room now. I'm not sure if that's going to increase overnight visitors - I can't decide if I want it to or not!

We are very much looking forward to the weekend. We're planning to visit with Dan's family as his uncle is in town from out of state for a short visit. It will be nice to catch up with everyone - I haven't seen a lot of the family since we celebrated Christmas!

TGIF!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I know it's early, but it will be here before we all know it!

It's been a while since I last posted. Since I left my job, I've been putting all of my effort into healing myself both physically and mentally. It's been exhausting, but also rewarding. It's giving me hope for the future.

I'm having an epidural done tomorrow. Even thought it's my third, I'm still a little nervous. I trying to hope for the best and prepare for the worst. It's an emotional time for me.

Friday I have to see all of the lawyers involved in my lawsuit. They'll take my deposition, and it looks like it's going to be a long and grueling day. I'm just looking forward to putting it behind me.

I wanted to take a minute to say thank you for all of the support I've received from my close friends these last few months. Even though I don't always return your calls, I can't tell you how much it means to me to know you care. This is especially for my family, Jessica and Kelly. You all give me the strength I need to conquer each day.

Happy Valentines Day - I love you all very much!

Pictures!

Lots going on today! I'm officially on disability full-time, which means I won't be working for at least three months, giving me time to focus on both my mental and physical health and explore options with my doctors. I'm excited about this transition, and am hoping that we get much of this resolved this year.

I've also finally uploaded some of our Hawaii pictures. We'll have more to come, as we forgot to bring our camera on the Road to Hana. We purchased a disposable camera, and I'll take that in to have transferred to a CD today. I'll share those soon.

Good to be Home!

We're home and settled back in to our daily routines. We're hopeful for 2009, that my medical issues will be resolved, that our lawsuit will be finalized, and that we can move into 2010 restored to our best.

I want to post pictures of our amazing trip tonight - we've been busy catching up on laundry and sleep - and we both have colds! Yuck!

Happy New Year!

I hope you all had fun celebrating the new year. Dan and I celebrated by going to a nice dinner and stargazing on the beach afterwards. We stayed up long enough to catch the West Coast countdowns, and then we were fast asleep!

We're heading to our luau in just a few minutes. It has certainly been a busy trip! We whale watched again yesterday, and snorkeled today. We're having a lot of fun, but are still looking forward to returning home on Saturday morning.

I'll post more updates when we return, along with pictures and maybe even some video.

Aloha!
